Tim Christy

Tim has been employed at Longhouse-Northshire for 20 years. Starting in 1990, he began working for the facility as the Social Worker and Assistant Administrator. Then in 2000 Tim moved in to the Administrator position. He has always been proud of the great care and comfort that our residents receive every day.

Prior to 1990, Tim was employed as a Consulting Social Worker that encompassed 13 years of working for many nursing homes in NW Iowa. His education has included Iowa Lakes Community College, Briar Cliff University, and Buena Vista University, where he attained his BA in 1975.

Organizations that Tim has been involved with over the years include: Alzheimer’s Association, Iowa Health Care Association, ILCC-LTC Board, Hi Noon Kiwanis, NW Iowa Social Workers, and the National Street Rod Association.


Dave Soucek
Assistant Administrator/Social Service Coordinator

Dave started his career at Longhouse-Northshire more than 20 years ago initially working in the maintenance department during his summer breaks while attending college at the University of Northern Iowa.  After graduating from Northern Iowa in 1995 he began assisting Tim Christy, the current administrator, with helping to meet the social service needs of the residents of Longhouse-Northshire. 

In 1997 Dave was offered an opportunity to be the assistant administrator and began to help oversee the human resource needs of many of the departments in the facility.  Dave has been a lifetime resident of Spencer and is active in many community events.


Rosemary Hibbs, RN, DON
Director of Nursing

Rosemary attended Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake, IA to obtain her LPN license in 2002. In 2004, she completed her schooling to obtain her LPN license. Just prior to completing her schooling, she attended a preceptorship with an RN from Longhouse-Northshire over a period of about 6 weeks. Rosemary was hired on as an LPN to Longhouse–Northshire in 2004. In the fall of 2005, Rosemary was accepted to Iowa Lakes Community College in the RN program. She did the nights and weekends program while working as an LPN at Longhouse-Northshire. At the end of 2006, she moved up in her role to become the Quality Assurance/ Infection Control Nurse for Longhouse – Northshire. She obtained her RN license in the beginning of 2007. At the end of 2008, Rosemary decided to pursue a different role while working at Longhouse – Northshire, she became the Unit Manager for Northshire. In 2015 Rosemary moved into the position of Director of Nursing. She is excited to take on the new position and serve the residents and its community.


Randi Swanson, RN
Medicare Coordinator

Randi is the Medicare Coordinator for Longhouse - Northshire. Prior to this she was the Unit Manager for the North Unit

Randi has been a life-long resident of Northwest Iowa, graduating from Clay Central/Everly School in Everly in 2002. She went on to pursue her nursing career at Northwest Iowa Community College, receiving her LPN license in 2003 and her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2004. Randi has worked as an LPN and then as an RN at Northwest Iowa Health Center Senior Care (now Sanford Sheldon Senior Care), as an RN at Lakes Regional Healthcare in the Med-Surg, OB, SDS, Oncology, and ER units, as an RN through Grape Tree temporary nursing service, and as a School Nurse at the Clay Central/Everly & Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn schools. Randi enjoys spending time with her family and caring for her residents at Longhouse.


Amanda Madson
Administrative Assistant

Amanda is a life-long resident of Clay County, graduating from Clay Central-Everly in 2005.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Amanda did her final internship at the Parker Museum and when the new Clay County Heritage Center opened she began working there part time. Amanda worked at a local farm equipment dealership and repair shop during summer breaks and was the Office Manager for 5 years. In December 2015 Amanda joined the LH-NS team and looks forward to continuing her work there.




Julie Johnson - RN, BSN
Unit Manager - Northshire

Julie is a life long resident of Northwest Iowa, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School. She went on to pursue her nursing career at Iowa Lakes Community College, where she received her LPN and RN Degree in Nursing. Julie obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa College of Nursing in 2012. Julie has worked as a CNA, LPN and RN at Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids, a credentialing and regulatory RN at Spencer Surgery and Laser in Spencer, and a Clinical Nurse Manager at Universal Pediatrics in Sheldon. Currently she is serving in the middle management position of Unit Manager for the Northshire Unit. Julie started her new position in March of 2015 and she is looking forward to working at Longhouse-Northshire for many years to come.



Vanessa Newcomb, RN
Unit Manager - South Unit

Vanessa joined LH-NS team in 1998 in our Dietary department, serving and preparing residents meals. Enjoying her career at Longhouse-Northshire, she transferred to be a Certified Nursing Assistant to work more closely with the residents. As love for the job grew, Vanessa decided to return to school to pursue her Associate Degree in Nursing.

Vanessa graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with her LPN diploma in 2004. She worked as an LPN for 3 years, followed by returning to Iowa Central Community College, where she graduated with her ADN in 2007. Overall, Vanessa has worked in various Long Term Care facilities, Lakes Regional Hospital, and Grape Tree temp service, which has encompassed more than 11 years.

Currently, she is enjoying the great joys and exciting challenges of working at Longhouse-Northshire while serving in the middle-management position of Unit Manager, for the South Unit. She and her family live in Spencer, Iowa where she plans to continue her nursing career at Longhouse-Northshire for many years to come.


Brandi Haberl, RN
Unit Manager - North Unit

Brandi is a life-long resident of the Spencer area, graduating from Spencer High School in 2002. After high school, Brandi went on to pursue her Associate of Arts Degree from Iowa Central, Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Iowa State University, and finally, her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College in 2011.

Brandi has worked throughout her whole nursing career at Longhouse-Northshire, starting out as a CNA, then as an LPN, and finally as an RN. She then moved in to the Quality Assurance Infection Control Nurse and now as Unit Manager. She enjoys her current position as Unit Manager.


Marlene Stecker, RN
Quality Assurance and Infection Control

Marly is a life-long resident of Iowa, born and raised in Titonka. She and her family moved to Spencer in 1990. She had managed a few local restaurants before making the decision to go into Medical Assistant, then to Nursing. She attended Iowa Lakes Community college, graduating with honors in 2007. Her nursing experience includes working in a local nursing home, Spencer Hospital, and Spencer Avera Clinic. She has worked in Mental Health, Hospice, Home Health, vaccination clinic, Med Surg, and worked in Triage and with several providers at the clinic.
Marly is a mother to 3 children and has 10 grandchildren. She enjoys time with her family, camping, hiking, photography, and scrapbooking. She came to Longhouse Northshire in March of 2016. She enjoys the challenges her new position offers her and is looking forward to the many years to come.



Bonnie Pullen Lehman - DTR, COM, CFPP
Social Services Department

Bonnie is a life long Iowa resident having grown up in rural Lyon County. She moved to Spencer after graduating from Spencer School of Business with an accounting Degree. Bonnie is a life time learner while working full time at a variety of occupations and completing Associate of Science Degree in Dietetic Food Management, Registered Dietetic Technician, Certified Dietary Manager/Serv Safe Protection Manager, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services and Psychology (graduating with honors). She enjoys cooking, relaxing outside, crocheting, quilting and time with her family, her husband, 3 married sons, 1 married step-daughter, 14 grandchildren, and 2 furry four legged kids. Bonnie has been a member of several local organizations including 8 years as President of American Legion Auxiliary. Bonnie started her career at Longhouse-Northshire in March 2012 as Food Service Supervisor and in 2018 joined the Social Services Department. She is looking forward to continuing to work with the Residents and Staff at Longhouse-Northshire.


Colleen King - MS, RD, LD

Colleen King, MS RD LD  received her bachelors degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.  She completed her RD and Masters Degrees at the University of Minnesota.  Colleen lives in Sioux Center, IA with her husband, four children and pet rabbit.  She enjoys running, gardening and traveling, especially to Minnesota to visit many family and friends.  Her family is involved in hockey and they travel to many games in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota.  She is a fan of the Minnesota sports teams.  Go Vikings!

Cindy Pingel
Activities Coordinator

Cindy began working at Longhouse-Northshire in 2006 when she joined the Activity department. Her background in music, and particularly piano, presents a nice addition to the department. She also has a hand for craft work and enjoys organizing a variety of fun activities for the residents.

Cindy completed her education for the current position with Iowa Lakes Community College. And, in May of 2010 Cindy became the Coordinator for our Activity Department.

Cindy really believes in keeping the residents busy and loves to bring a smile to the resident’s day.

Ron Feucht
Environmental Services

Ron grew up in the small town of Ladysmith Wisconsin. After high school, Ron worked at a lumber yard. He met the love of his life Dawn Watterson, who was from Iowa. They were engaged in 1976, moved to Iowa, and was married in 1978.He worked construction for 9 years, before joining the staff at Longhouse Northshire in December of 1985. On Ron’s first day of work, he had to walk to work due to 12 inches of snow!
Ron and Dawn have 2 daughters, Amber and Heather. Both girls are married and together they have 5 grandchildren for Ron and Dawn to spoil! Ron is active in the Spencer Community Service Clubs. Ron has been involved in many projects with the Spencer Daybreakers’ Kiwanis, Y-Service Club, President of the Board at Sunshine Services, and Vice Chairman at the Spencer Area Activity Center. Ron spends many nights hosting at Scharnberg Park.
