Dave Soucek
Assistant Administrator/Social Service Coordinator

Dave started his career at Longhouse-Northshire more than 20 years ago initially working in the maintenance department during his summer breaks while attending college at the University of Northern Iowa.  After graduating from Northern Iowa in 1995 he began assisting Tim Christy, the current administrator, with helping to meet the social service needs of the residents of Longhouse-Northshire. 

In 1997 Dave was offered an opportunity to be the assistant administrator and began to help oversee the human resource needs of many of the departments in the facility.  Dave has been a lifetime resident of Spencer and is active in many community events.

Randi Swanson, RN
Medicare Coordinator

Randi is the Medicare Coordinator for Longhouse - Northshire. Prior to this she was the Unit Manager for the North Unit

Randi has been a life-long resident of Northwest Iowa, graduating from Clay Central/Everly School in Everly in 2002. She went on to pursue her nursing career at Northwest Iowa Community College, receiving her LPN license in 2003 and her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2004. Randi has worked as an LPN and then as an RN at Northwest Iowa Health Center Senior Care (now Sanford Sheldon Senior Care), as an RN at Lakes Regional Healthcare in the Med-Surg, OB, SDS, Oncology, and ER units, as an RN through Grape Tree temporary nursing service, and as a School Nurse at the Clay Central/Everly & Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn schools. Randi enjoys spending time with her family and caring for her residents at Longhouse.

Amanda Madson
Administrative Assistant

Amanda is a life-long resident of Clay County, graduating from Clay Central-Everly in 2005.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Amanda did her final internship at the Parker Museum and when the new Clay County Heritage Center opened she began working there part time. Amanda worked at a local farm equipment dealership and repair shop during summer breaks and was the Office Manager for 5 years. In December 2015 Amanda joined the LH-NS team         .

Brandi Haberl, RN
Unit Manager - South Unit

Brandi is a life-long resident of the Spencer area, graduating from Spencer High School in 2002. After high school, Brandi went on to pursue her Associate of Arts Degree from Iowa Central, Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Iowa State University, and finally, her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College in 2011.

Brandi has worked throughout her whole nursing career at Longhouse-Northshire, starting out as a CNA, then as an LPN, and finally as an RN. She then moved in to the Quality Assurance Infection Control Nurse and now as Unit Manager. She enjoys her current position as Unit Manager.

Sheryl Kahl
Social Services / Activity Coordinator

 Sheryl is a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Everly High School in 1987 and received her BA degree in Psychology and Human Services in 1991 from Westmar College in Le Mars. She was employed in Social Work at nursing homes in Le Mars and Hartley for a few years. She then worked at the Spencer Hospital as a Social Worker/Discharge Planner for 19 years. She started her career at Longhouse Northshire in 2019 as their Social Worker. She received her Activity Professionals Certificate in 2021 and started working as the Activity Director also at that time. Sheryl loves her residents and spending time with them. Sheryl and her husband have 3 children, a son-in-law, and a naughty Mini Australian Shephard. She enjoys spending time with her family, shopping and watching reality TV.

Colleen King - MS, RD, LD
Dietitian

Colleen King, MS RD LD  received her bachelors degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.  She completed her RD and Masters Degrees at the University of Minnesota.  Colleen lives in Sioux Center, IA with her husband, four children and pet rabbit.  She enjoys running, gardening and traveling, especially to Minnesota to visit many family and friends.  Her family is involved in hockey and they travel to many games in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota.  She is a fan of the Minnesota sports teams.  Go Vikings!
